Karsen Gromm (he/they) is a multidisciplinary artist, graphic designer, and writer based in the greater Chicago area. His work is dedicated to developing bold, character-driven, engaging stories across fictional mediums and nonfiction communications and marketing. He has a particular passion for doing work for the arts, nonprofits, and educational institutions.
Karsen is trained in both traditional fine art and digital art. He received his Bachelor’s in 2D animation and fiction writing from Columbia College Chicago and his Master’s in English from the University of Northern Colorado, where he also taught first-year writing courses and managed the English department social media accounts.
Karsen’s past creative work has included a wide range of mediums and topics, including animated film, chalkboard illustrations, poetry, short stories, podcasts, theater, public speaking, online video, and more. He has worked with companies such as Transmission Ministry Collective, the University of Northern Colorado, and Complexly (creators of CrashCourse). Karsen is currently the lead in-house graphic designer and marketing coordinator for Illinois Valley Community College. In his free time, Karsen volunteers his skills as a performer, set painter, and graphic designer to support the local Illinois Valley theater community.
