ABOUT
Karsen Gromm (he/they) is an multimedia artist, writer, and video creator based in the Chicago area whose work is dedicated to developing bold, character-driven, engaging stories across fictional mediums and nonfiction communications and marketing.
Karsen received his Bachelor's in 2D animation and fiction writing from Columbia College Chicago and his Master's in English from the University of Northern Colorado, where he also taught first-year writing courses and managed the English department social media. His thesis project examined theology and devised theater in the 1971 musical Godspell. Karsen placed second in the 3 Minute Thesis competition in December 2022 hosted by UNCO. Karsen's short film, My Friend Rocky, has been screened at the 2019 Manifest Urban Arts Festival, 2020 Los Angeles International Children's Film Festival, and 2021 San Diego International Children's Film Festival and is now available for streaming online. His illustration work on behalf of Second Star to the Right, an independent children's bookstore, has been featured on the American Bookseller Association Instagram account and the Shelf Awareness newsletter (Sept. 2020, Oct. 2020). Karsen's writing has been featured in The Crucible, The Lab Review, and in Episode 13 of The Spooky Sapphic Storyteller podcast, where he also voiced the character Tanner. Karsen is currently a Shorts host and writer for the YouTube Channel, Study Hall, which is produced by Complexly (creators of CrashCourse).
